Following the exhumation of the body of the late Bobby Fischer, DNA tests have shown that he is not the father of a nine year old Filipio girl, her lawyer has declared.
The Icelandic Supreme Court had ordered Fischer’s body to be exhumed to determine whether Jinky Young was actually his daughter.
The American born chess player died in 2008 in Iceland and left no will despite having an estate worth and estimated $2m.
Mr Bogason, Jinky’s lawyer said “The DNA report excluded Bobby Fisher from being the father of Jinky Young, and therefore the case has come to a close.”
There are other claimants to Mr Fischer’s estate including two nephews and a Japanese woman called Myoko Watai, who claims to be Mr Fischer’s widow.
Additionally the US government is also claiming unpaid taxes from the estate despite Mr. Fischer not having lived in the US for some years.
Jinky Young is the daughter of Marilyn Young, who who claims she had a relationship with Fischer while he was living in the Philippines before his move to Iceland.
They both live in the Philippines but flew to Iceland last year to allow Jinky to provide her own sample of DNA.
The court case over the inheritance dispute is still ongoing and proceedings are expected to continue next month, Icelandic newspaper Morgunbladid has reported.
